R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The 2023 American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup is |
|
taking place from June 29 through July 8 in Bryan/College Station; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, First held in 1979, the Youth World Cup is an |
|
educational, leadership, and competition-based event for American |
|
Quarter Horse Association youth members from around the globe; it |
|
is conducted every two years by a different country, with the host |
|
nation providing horses for a 16-team field; participants compete |
|
in cutting, reining, horsemanship, ranch riding, trail, western |
|
riding, hunt seat equitation, hunter under saddle, and showmanship |
|
events, and the schedule also includes clinics and team-building |
|
activities; and |
|
WHEREAS, For the 2023 Youth World Cup, Team USA is providing |
|
the horses, facility, and volunteers; team members include Brooke |
|
Jolstad, Taylor Allen, Blakely Abbott, Lily Corbin, Lauren Pursley, |
|
Elizabeth Marmor, Sydney Sargent, Rosemary Hartman, Jaymee |
|
Carruth, and Violet Shetler, who hail from across the nation; these |
|
talented young people benefit from the able direction of coach |
|
Nancy Cahill and manager Michelle Tidwell; and |
|
WHEREAS, The American quarter horse holds a special place in |
|
the culture and history of Texas cattle ranching, horse racing, and |
|
rodeo, and it is indeed a pleasure to join in welcoming the American |
|
Quarter Horse Youth World Cup to the Lone Star State; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize the 2023 American Quarter Horse Youth |
|
World Cup in Bryan/College Station and extend to the participants |
|
and all those in attendance sincere best wishes for a meaningful and |
|
memorable event. |
