R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Rockwall High School boys' gymnastics team
  continued its proud tradition of excellence by winning the overall
  team title at the 2023 Texas High School Gymnastics State
  Championship; and
         WHEREAS, Conducted by the Texas High School Gymnastic Coaches
  Association, the state meet took place April 27 through 29 at A&M
  Consolidated High School in College Station; competing against the
  state's other top teams, Rockwall turned in an exceptional
  performance, placing first in the compulsory and optional
  competitions to emerge triumphant with a combined score of 338.35
  points; with the victory, the Yellowjackets claimed their third
  consecutive state championship; and
         WHEREAS, Trey Lopez sparked Rockwall's efforts, clinching a
  silver medal in the all-around competition and gold medals in the
  rings, parallel bars, and horizontal bar events; moreover, silver
  medals were collected by Joshua Smelser in pommel horse and Dean
  Reed in floor exercise; and
         WHEREAS, Also contributing to Rockwall's outstanding showing
  at the state meet were Brett Collins, Noah Fishman, Marcellis
  Hamilton, Preston Hunter, Carter Mackenzie, James Martin, Elijah
  Tomasino, Jirden Ware, Jacob Watkins, Seth Williams, and Gage
  Williams; the talented members of the Yellowjackets squad benefit
  from the able leadership of coach Cameron Sweny; and
         WHEREAS, By accomplishing a rare "three-peat" state
  championship victory, the Rockwall Yellowjackets have burnished
  their reputation as a gymnastics powerhouse, and all those
  associated with the team may reflect with pride on a job well done;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Rockwall High School boys'
  gymnastics team on winning the overall team title at the 2023 Texas
  High School Gymnastics State Championship and extend to the
  athletes, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Yellowjackets as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
