R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the |
|
passing of Jerry Don Spikes of Bryan on April 23, 2023, at the age of |
|
74; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jerry Spikes was born on February 9, 1949, and he |
|
grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Jim, Rickey, |
|
Sandy, and Dolly; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Spikes shared a rewarding marriage with his |
|
first wife, Mary Katherine Spikes, and they were the proud parents |
|
of two children, Rebecca and Cameron; after Mrs. Spikes's passing |
|
in 2014, he was fortunate enough to find love again with his second |
|
wife, Melissa; he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to |
|
include two stepsons, Booky and Riley, and six grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Spikes enjoyed hunting, |
|
fishing, and playing golf, and he was loyal to the Fightin' Texas |
|
Aggies; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Jerry Spikes is greatly missed, memories of |
|
his warm and generous nature, his infectious smile, and his |
|
unwavering devotion to his family remain to comfort and inspire |
|
those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jerry Don Spikes and |
|
extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jerry |
|
Spikes. |
