R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Telena Wright is retiring as superintendent of
  the Argyle Independent School District on June 30, 2023, drawing to
  a close an outstanding tenure that has spanned more than 15 years;
  and
         WHEREAS, A native of Ballinger, Dr. Wright began her career
  in public education as a math teacher in San Angelo ISD, and she
  went on to become an elementary and high school counselor; she
  joined Argyle ISD as principal of Argyle High School in 2000, and
  three years later, she accepted a position as the district's
  assistant superintendent; she was named superintendent in 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Wright has overseen three successful bond
  programs that have included the addition of new campuses as well as
  renovations and other improvements to existing campuses; she also
  played an instrumental role in establishing the Argyle ISD Police
  Department and special education department; since her appointment
  as supervisor, district enrollment has increased from 1,700 to some
  5,000 students, and she has guided a team to develop a 10-year
  growth plan for the district; and
         WHEREAS, Under Dr. Wright's able leadership, Argyle ISD has
  received a number of honors, including an A accountability rating
  from the Texas Education Agency and a district score of 97, the
  highest in the district's history; in addition, Argyle High has
  achieved statewide success in University Interscholastic League
  competitions, earning 12 Lone Star Cup awards; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Wright holds a doctorate in education from the
  University of North Texas, a master's degree in education from
  Hardin-Simmons University, and a bachelor's degree from The
  University of Texas at Austin; in addition to her work with Argyle
  ISD, she has served as an adjunct instructor at UNT; and
         WHEREAS, Through her dedication, professionalism, and
  commitment to excellence, Dr. Telena Wright has helped many young
  Texans acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed, and
  her contributions will be remembered and appreciated for years to
  come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Telena Wright on her
  retirement as superintendent of the Argyle Independent School
  District and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Wright as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
