R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The strength of our communities depends on the
  dedicated efforts of public officials such as Everardo Villarreal,
  who has served Hidalgo County with distinction as commissioner for
  Precinct 3; and
         WHEREAS, Since assuming office in January 2021, "Ever"
  Villarreal has taken bold, thoughtful actions to improve the
  infrastructure and quality of life of Precinct 3 and to bring
  greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency to the local
  government; his accomplishments have included securing grants from
  the Texas General Land Office and the Texas Department of
  Transportation that have helped support drainage improvement and
  road projects totaling millions of dollars; and
         WHEREAS, Among other highlights of his tenure, Commissioner
  Villarreal implemented a comprehensive infrastructure plan to
  maintain and enhance roads in Precinct 3, and he established the
  precinct's Community Outreach Department, which has helped provide
  residents with housing, utilities, food, and tax relief assistance;
  moreover, he has worked alongside city officials and the Hidalgo
  County Urban County Program to secure funds to build a public
  library in Sullivan City; and
         WHEREAS, The past few years have coincided with a number of
  major challenges for Hidalgo County, and Commissioner Villarreal
  has earned recognition for the significant role that he played in
  the community's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to the winter
  storm and floods in 2021; along the way, he has utilized social
  media platforms to help increase transparency and enhance
  communication with county residents; and
         WHEREAS, During his short time in office, Commissioner
  Villarreal has received several recognitions, including the 2021
  Leadership Award from the City of Alton and the 2021 Community
  Partnership Award from the City of Palmhurst; he was also named
  among the Top 10 Texas Local Officials by Rising LoneStars, and he
  was twice honored with the Quick Draw Award from the Hidalgo County
  Urban County Program in 2022 and 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Ever Villarreal has demonstrated skilled,
  knowledgeable leadership, and a deep concern for the needs of his
  constituents, and he may reflect with pride on all that he has
  accomplished in behalf of his community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Everardo Villarreal for his outstanding
  service as a Hidalgo County commissioner and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Commissioner Villarreal as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
