R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Texas Black Expo marked its 20th anniversary in
  2022, and the organization is celebrating that special milestone as
  part of its signature event, the Summer Celebration Tradeshow,
  taking place May 18-21, 2023, in Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 2002, the Texas Black Expo is a
  nonprofit organization committed to fostering business growth and
  development, introducing youth to entrepreneurship, and sponsoring
  events designed to inform and economically empower members of the
  community; from its origins as a once-a-year trade show in Houston,
  the group has broadened its mission and expanded its reach to
  include affiliate chapters throughout the state; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas Black Expo was founded by its president
  and CEO, Jerome Love, who has also distinguished himself as an
  entrepreneur and professional speaker; he has addressed such
  high-profile gatherings as the Los Angeles Mayor's Economic
  Development Summit and the New Mexico State Leadership Conference,
  and his business achievements have been honored with a number of
  accolades, including recognition as the Multi-Million Dollar Top
  Producer by Prudential Texas Realty and as Entrepreneur of the Year
  by the Houston Chapter of the National Black MBA Association; and
         WHEREAS, The expo's Summer Celebration is one of the state's
  largest African American trade shows, and it facilitates networking
  and the discovery of new business opportunities for its 20,000
  attendees; more than 200 companies enhance their visibility by
  exhibiting each year; in addition to business development seminars,
  the Summer Celebration features health and wellness programming,
  women's forums, concert performances, celebrity entertainers, and
  other cultural content; a highlight of the 2023 event is the
  corporate luncheon featuring NBA legend and famed entrepreneur
  Earvin "Magic" Johnson as keynote speaker; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to developing resilient businesses, the
  Texas Black Expo has helped many small companies and organizations
  build a strong foundation for growth, and in so doing, it has helped
  to increase the prosperity of their communities and the economic
  dynamism of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Texas Black Expo on its 20th
  anniversary and extend to all those associated with this noteworthy
  organization sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Texas Black Expo as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
