R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Texas Association for Health, Physical
  Education, Recreation & Dance (TAHPERD) is celebrating the 100th
  anniversary of its founding in 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1923, TAHPERD is a not-for-profit
  professional association for individuals working and studying in
  the four allied fields of health education, physical education,
  recreation, and dance; the organization is composed of more than
  3,100 professional and student members, the majority of whom are
  employed in public or private education, and it has collectively
  served over one million students in schools, colleges, and
  universities throughout the state of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping its members better contribute
  to the students, institutions, and businesses they serve, TAHPERD
  offers online and in-person professional development opportunities
  through workshops, summer conferences, and annual conventions, in
  addition to producing two journals annually containing
  peer-reviewed research articles; members take an active role in
  leading and volunteering within the organization, and in so doing,
  they can gain the skills needed to be strong leaders at their
  campuses, districts, and universities; and
         WHEREAS, Over the past century, members of the Texas
  Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance have
  helped introduce generations of Texans to the benefits of living
  healthy, active lifestyles, and this milestone anniversary
  provides a welcome opportunity to honor the organization for its
  invaluable service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Texas Association for Health, Physical
  Education, Recreation & Dance on the occasion of its 100th
  anniversary and extend to all those associated with the
  organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
