R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas PTA president Suzi Kennon has distinguished |
|
|
herself as a tireless advocate for Texas youth; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since 2020, Mrs. Kennon has overseen Texas PTA, |
|
|
which was founded in 1909 and has proved to be a vital resource for |
|
|
parents, teachers, school administrators, and community leaders; |
|
|
nearly half a million members strong, the organization seeks to |
|
|
encourage family engagement in order to promote the health, |
|
|
education, and overall well-being of children on school campuses |
|
|
across the state; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A committed champion of her local community, |
|
|
Mrs. Kennon has held several leadership roles with the Wylie ISD |
|
|
PTA, including president; during her tenure at the helm of the Texas |
|
|
PTA, she has ably guided the organization through the many |
|
|
challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Kennon is a recipient of the Elizabeth W. |
|
|
Garrison Award from the Wylie ISD Education Foundation, and Texas |
|
|
PTA named her an honorary life member and recognized her with an |
|
|
extended service award; in addition, she received the National PTA |
|
|
Life Achievement Award; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Kennon enjoys the love |
|
|
and support of a fine family that includes her husband and three |
|
|
children; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Suzi Kennon has contributed significantly to the |
|
|
nearly 2,200 PTAs in the Lone Star State and helped make the state |
|
|
an even better place in which to live and raise a family, and her |
|
|
outstanding efforts in behalf of Texas schoolchildren are indeed |
|
|
deserving of commendation; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Suzi Kennon for her service to Texas PTA |
|
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. Kennon as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
