R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Chris Canales was elected to represent District 8 on |
|
|
the El Paso City Council on December 17, 2022; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Mr. Canales has served as a |
|
|
legislative staff person, advocate, organizer, and sustainability |
|
|
consultant, and he is a previous chief of staff for the El Paso City |
|
|
Council District 8 office; in addition, he draws on the experience |
|
|
he gained working for the New York City Department of Parks and |
|
|
Recreation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Canales holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia |
|
|
University, and he is a graduate of Leadership El Paso; a founding |
|
|
member of the Conscious Barrio organization, he has also served as |
|
|
co-chair of the community council for the Vitalant blood bank, and |
|
|
he volunteers as a soccer referee; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of |
|
|
life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the efforts |
|
|
of Chris Canales will help to make El Paso an even better place in |
|
|
which to live and work; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Chris Canales on his election as |
|
|
the District 8 representative on the El Paso City Council and extend |
|
|
to him sincere best wishes for a productive and successful tenure in |
|
|
office; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Canales as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
