R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Sophia Bendet of Randolph High School in Universal |
|
|
City achieved great distinction by winning two gold medals and a |
|
|
bronze medal at the 2023 University Interscholastic League Track & |
|
|
Field State Meet; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Joining the other top 3A competitors at Mike A. |
|
|
Myers Stadium in Austin on May 11, Ms. Bendet turned in an |
|
|
exceptional performance; in the 1,600-meter race, she recorded a |
|
|
time of 5 minutes, 7.56 seconds, to claim the title, and she |
|
|
collected a second gold medal in the 800-meter event, crossing the |
|
|
finish line with a time of 2:16.01; she further contributed to |
|
|
Randolph High's superb showing at the meet as a member of the |
|
|
school's 1,600-meter relay team, which placed third with a time of |
|
|
3:58.39; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for |
|
|
high school track and field athletes, Sophia Bendet has ably |
|
|
represented her school and community, and she will cherish her |
|
|
memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sophia Bendet on winning two gold |
|
|
medals and a bronze medal at the 2023 UIL Track & Field State Meet |
|
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Bendet as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
