R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Gruver High School girls' basketball team proved
  itself one of the finest in Texas by winning the 2022 University
  Interscholastic League 2A state championship; and
         WHEREAS, Gruver began its journey to the crown by posting an
  unblemished record during the regular season and clinching the
  district title; continuing to excel in the playoffs, the Lady
  Hounds bested Memphis, Olton, Panhandle, New Home, and Wellington
  High Schools to advance to the state tournament for the fourth time
  in program history; after dominating San Saba High School 69-29 in
  the semifinals, Gruver moved on to the state finale; and
         WHEREAS, On March 5 at the San Antonio Alamodome, Gruver took
  the floor against Stamford High School; the Lady Hounds were in
  command from the outset, showcasing a balanced scoring attack as
  they built a 23-14 halftime advantage and a 36-26 lead entering the
  fourth quarter; emerging triumphant by the final score of 50-38,
  Gruver claimed the school's second 2A state title and closed out the
  year with a perfect record of 33 victories and no losses; and
         WHEREAS, The Lady Hounds were led by Bailey Maupin, the
  championship game Most Valuable Player, who was joined by Callie
  Conyers on the 2A All-Tournament Team; Gruver also received
  valuable contributions throughout the year from the other members
  of the roster: Camryn Armes, Brenna Butler, Brooklyn Vasquez,
  Jaylee Lane, Maizie Kelp, Kimber Whitehead, Kinley Callaway, Hannon
  Lankford, Kami Whitehead, and Allie Sparks; these talented
  student-athletes benefited from the able leadership of head coach
  Trent Lankford and assistant coaches Jill Butler, Terry Davis,
  Scotty Hintergardt, and Steven Livingston; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the members of the Gruver Lady Hounds
  basketball team will treasure the memory of this accomplishment for
  the rest of their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Gruver High School girls'
  basketball team on winning the 2022 UIL 2A state championship and
  extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
