R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Gruver High School girls' cross country team
  proved itself one of the finest in Texas with its exceptional
  performance at the 2022 University Interscholastic League Cross
  Country State Championships; and
         WHEREAS, Following a strong showing at the district meet,
  where they won the title, the Lady Hounds placed second at
  regionals, with seven runners qualifying for state; on November 4,
  the Gruver athletes joined the other top cross country squads in
  Texas at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock to contend for the
  championship; entering the event ranked No. 5 in Class 2A, the Lady
  Hounds rose to the occasion and claimed the silver medal in the team
  competition with a cumulative place score of 139; and
         WHEREAS, Gruver was paced by Brenna Butler, who recorded a
  top-20 finish with a time of 13 minutes, 19.6 seconds, on the
  two-mile course; she was followed by Brianna Martinez, who crossed
  the line in 13:52.0, Makenlei Vasquez, who finished in 13:52.4, and
  Tyerin Aranda, who clocked in at 14:05.6; rounding out the field for
  the Lady Hounds were Presley East at 14:08.0, Ilana Rodriguez at
  14:45.2, and Ella Babbs at 15:20.7; and
         WHEREAS, The Gruver Lady Hounds have distinguished
  themselves through their skill, hard work, and enduring commitment
  to excellence, and they are a source of tremendous pride to their
  classmates and their many supporters in the community; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Gruver High School girls' cross
  country team on winning the silver medal in the 2A competition at
  the 2022 UIL Cross Country State Championships and extend to the
  team's athletes, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Lady Hounds as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
