R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of the Panhandle High School girls'
  track team achieved great distinction with their exceptional
  performance at the 2022 University Interscholastic League Track &
  Field State Meet; and
         WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school qualifiers at Mike
  A. Myers Stadium in Austin, the defending state champion
  Pantherettes racked up 58 points, clinching the silver medal in the
  2A team competition and finishing just two points shy of first
  place; and
         WHEREAS, Panhandle was led by Mackie Land, who closed out her
  high school career with three more gold medals at state; her
  blistering times of 23.75 seconds in the 200 meters and 54.21
  seconds in the 400 meters left both fields far behind, and she
  joined Avery Sides, Sydney Adee, and Leah Land on the winning
  1,600-meter relay team that crossed the finish line in 3 minutes,
  55.79 seconds, breaking its own 2A state record; moreover, the
  800-meter relay quartet of Grace Sims, Ms. L. Land, Ms. Adee, and
  Ms. Sides posted a silver-medal finish with a time of 1 minute,
  46.09 seconds; and
         WHEREAS, The Pantherettes also received points from the
  sixth-place finish by the 400-meter relay team of Ms. L. Land,
  Ms. Adee, Ms. Sims, and Ms. Sides; serving as state meet alternates
  for Panhandle were Hayley Sims, Cadence Bonner, and Makennah
  Austin; and
         WHEREAS, These determined young Texans have excelled through
  skill, hard work, and an enduring commitment to excellence, and
  they are a source of tremendous pride to their classmates and their
  many supporters in the local community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Panhandle High School girls'
  track team on winning the silver medal in the 2A team competition at
  the 2022 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to the athletes,
  coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Pantherettes as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
