R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Albina Ann Mages Schmitz of Gainesville on May 7, 2023,
  at the age of 89; and
         WHEREAS, The former Albina Mages was born to Joe and Theresa
  Bayer Mages on February 15, 1934, in Muenster, and she grew up with
  the companionship of six siblings, Clara, Henrietta, Loreta, Norb,
  Louise, and Polly, and a half-brother, Edgar; she graduated from
  Sacred Heart Catholic High School in 1952, and she went on to become
  a licensed cosmetologist and to work as a hairdresser; and
         WHEREAS, On May 30, 1955, she was joined in matrimony to John
  H. Schmitz, with whom she shared a rewarding union that spanned
  nearly five decades; she took great pride in her five children, Joe,
  MaQuita, John, Steve, and the late Carmen Crowsey, and with the
  passing years, she had the pleasure of seeing her family grow to
  include seven grandchildren, Brandi, Tiffany, Shelby, Suzanne,
  Kenadie, Victoria, and Nicholas, and five great-grandchildren,
  Colton, Camryn, Lucy, Henry, and Sally; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Schmitz and her husband owned and operated
  Johnny's B-29 Club and Johnny's DX gas station for many years, and
  after the businesses were sold, she worked in a variety of jobs
  until her retirement; in her leisure hours, she enjoyed baking,
  making afghan blankets, and traveling, and she gave generously of
  her time and talents as a volunteer foster grandparent; a woman of
  strong faith, she was an active and longtime parishioner of
  St. Mary Catholic Church in Gainesville, where she sang in the
  choir, served as a member of the altar society, and coordinated
  communion for nursing home residents and homebound individuals; and
         WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, Albina Schmitz
  has left her family and friends with many cherished memories, and
  they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Albina Ann Mages
  Schmitz and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her
  passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Albina
  Schmitz.
