R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The El Paso Veterans & Riders Association has
  rendered exceptional service to the local military community; and
         WHEREAS, Established on November 1, 2013, the EPVRA is one of
  the leading veterans' associations in El Paso, and it coordinates
  efforts with the U.S. military, the Texas Army National Guard, the
  State of Texas, the City of El Paso, El Paso County, and other area
  communities; and
         WHEREAS, Through these collaborations, the EPVRA has helped
  to improve quality of life for local veterans, their families, Fort
  Bliss personnel, Texas Army National Guard soldiers, and the wider
  El Paso community; the organization's many initiatives and events
  include annual food drives, raffles, concerts, and car shows; and
         WHEREAS, In recent months, the EPVRA has worked with El Paso
  County Tax Assessor-Collector Ruben P. Gonzalez, State
  Representative Claudia Ordaz, State Representative Evelina "Lina"
  Ortega, and State Senator César Blanco in support of House Bill
  1633, which aims to reduce parking penalties for veterans with
  disabilities; and
         WHEREAS, The EPVRA benefits from the able leadership of
  president Darrell G. Mond, a former U.S. Army armor officer, vice
  president Marco A. Pastrana, a veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd
  Airborne Division, and board members Don Parrott, a veteran of the
  U.S. Army and an employee of the Texas Veterans' Land Board, Rodney
  Washington, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and an employee of the
  Texas Workforce Commission, and Jonathan Bohannon, a veteran of the
  U.S. Army and current program director of Veterans' Services at
  Emergence Health Network; the organization has also received
  valuable contributions from Jason Durden, a veteran of the U.S.
  Marine Corps and current El Paso Deputy Constable for Precinct 4;
  and
         WHEREAS, Through its efforts to raise awareness and foster
  support for Texas veterans and their families, the EPVRA has set an
  outstanding example of civic engagement, and the organization is to
  be commended for its many achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the El Paso Veterans & Riders Association
  for its service to the community and extend to all those associated
  with the organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the EPVRA as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
