R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Brockman Hall for Opera at Rice University has been |
|
honored with a 2023 Landmark Award in the Public Assembly category |
|
from the Houston Business Journal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the Houston Business Journal recognizes |
|
real estate projects that have made an important impact in the |
|
community; part of the Shepherd School of Music, Brockman Hall for |
|
Opera opened its doors in April 2022; and |
|
WHEREAS, The 84,000-square-foot facility encompasses the |
|
Lucian and Nancy Morrison Theater, a three-tiered, European-style |
|
performance space that features 600 seats and an orchestra pit for |
|
70 musicians; in addition to serving as a venue for theatrical and |
|
musical performances, the building offers rehearsal and practice |
|
spaces and attracts numerous high-profile speakers; and |
|
WHEREAS, In its first year of operation, Brockman Hall for |
|
Opera has significantly contributed to the cultural vibrancy of |
|
Rice University and the Houston area, and it will continue to play a |
|
vital role in the community for decades to come; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Brockman Hall for Opera on being |
|
honored with a 2023 Landmark Award in the Public Assembly category |
|
from the Houston Business Journal; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the hall as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
