R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Clifton J. Cobb Jr. of Houston, who passed away on May 1, 2023, at |
|
the age of 78; and |
|
WHEREAS, Cliff Cobb was born in Harlingen to Jessie B. Martin |
|
and Sir Clifton Cobb Sr. on July 17, 1944; as a child, he moved with |
|
his mother to Taylor, where he grew up with his grandmother and |
|
extended family; and |
|
WHEREAS, A 1962 graduate of Price High School, Mr. Cobb |
|
continued his education at Texas Southern University, earning a |
|
degree in finance in 1966; after living in New York City for a time, |
|
he returned to Texas and enjoyed a successful career with Tenneco |
|
Oil Company that spanned 25 years; he also joined a human resources |
|
independent contract company; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cobb drew strength from |
|
the rewarding marriage that he shared with his wife, Deanna |
|
Perdue-Cobb; he was the father of five children, Darryl, Corey, |
|
Cristi, Robin, and the late Ronald B. Cobb, and his family |
|
eventually grew to include 10 grandchildren and 4 |
|
great-grandchildren; an aficionado of wine and cigars, Mr. Cobb |
|
also enjoyed sports, fishing, and barbecuing; and |
|
WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Cliff Cobb |
|
leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far |
|
richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured |
|
place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clifton J. Cobb Jr. |
|
and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cliff Cobb. |
