R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Ali Friemel of Groom High School achieved great |
|
|
distinction by winning the silver medal in the 1A girls' singles |
|
|
competition at the 2023 University Interscholastic League Tennis |
|
|
State Tournament; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Friemel honed her skills over the course of her |
|
|
senior year of competition and advanced to state for a third |
|
|
consecutive season following a runner-up finish at regionals; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors in |
|
|
Texas on April 25 and 26 at the state tournament in San Antonio, |
|
|
Ms. Friemel turned in an exceptional performance; after dropping |
|
|
the first set in her quarterfinal opener, she displayed impressive |
|
|
poise and resolve, winning the next two sets for a 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 |
|
|
victory; in the semifinals, she easily defeated her next opponent |
|
|
in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, to claim a coveted berth in the final; |
|
|
she gave her all in the championship match but ultimately finished |
|
|
as the 1A silver medalist; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for |
|
|
high school tennis athletes, Ali Friemel has ably represented her |
|
|
school and community, and she will cherish the memory of this |
|
|
accomplishment for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Ali Friemel on winning the silver |
|
|
medal in the 1A girls' singles event at the 2023 UIL Tennis State |
|
|
Tournament and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Friemel as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
