R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Kathleen Long retired as a mathematics professor at |
|
|
Dallas College Brookhaven Campus on December 31, 2022, drawing to a |
|
|
close an exceptional career that spanned 23 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure at Dallas College |
|
|
Brookhaven, Ms. Long distinguished herself as a developmental math |
|
|
instructor; passionate about her work in the classroom, she |
|
|
inspired countless students in their lives and careers; in |
|
|
recognition of her skill and dedication, she was awarded a |
|
|
2013-2014 Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation Excellence in Teaching |
|
|
Award from the Dallas County Community College District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Long earned a bachelor of science degree from |
|
|
West Texas State University in 1986 and a master of science degree |
|
|
from Texas Woman's University in 2000; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Kathleen Long has demonstrated the spirit and |
|
|
commitment that are the hallmarks of our best educators, and she may |
|
|
indeed take pride in a career well spent as she embarks on the next |
|
|
exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Kathleen Long on her retirement as |
|
|
a mathematics professor at Dallas College Brookhaven Campus and |
|
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Long as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
