R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jon Whatley concluded his tenure on the Odem-Edroy
  Independent School District Board of Trustees in May 2023,
  following two decades of exemplary service; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Whatley was first appointed to the Odem-Edroy
  school board in July 2004 and eventually rose to the position of
  president; over the course of his tenure on the board, he worked
  tirelessly in behalf of the district, which has grown to serve
  approximately 900 students across its four campuses; he also
  highlighted the importance of collective decision-making, and
  through the years, he drew inspiration from his mother, who served
  on the Odem-Edroy school board for 18 years; and
         WHEREAS, Active in numerous other community endeavors,
  Mr. Whatley has given generously of his time to such organizations
  as the Odem Little League, which he served as a board member and
  baseball coach; moreover, he is a former president of the South
  Texas Cotton and Grain Association and has lent his expertise as a
  director for the Producers Caucus of the National Cotton Council;
  in all his endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife,
  Kelly, and their two children, Payne and Jackson; and
         WHEREAS, Jon Whatley's hard work, professionalism, and
  commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the students of
  Odem-Edroy ISD and earned the respect and admiration of his peers,
  and his contributions will resonate in the community for years to
  come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Jon Whatley for his service to the
  Odem-Edroy Independent School District Board of Trustees and extend
  to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Whatley as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
