R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of the Wolfbots robotics team from
  San Antonio have distinguished themselves with their recent
  success at the 2023 state championship event for the FIRST Lego
  League; and
         WHEREAS, The FIRST Lego League provides students with
  opportunities to design, build, program, and operate robots while
  developing important STEM skills; this year, participants were
  tasked with finding innovative and sustainable ways of generating
  electricity and addressing climate change; and
         WHEREAS, Made up of a group of determined seventh- and
  eighth-grade students, the Wolfbots team entered the 2022-2023
  season looking to build on a long record of success; the team won
  the Champions Award at both the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 Alamo
  regional competitions and received bids to the Razorback FLL
  Invitational in Arkansas in 2020 and the world championship in
  2021; after earning the second-place Champions Award at the
  2021-2022 central regional competition, the Wolfbots were named
  finalists for the Core Values Award and the Pit Design Award at the
  2022 Razorback Invitational; and
         WHEREAS, During the 2022-2023 season, the team collected the
  Robot Performance Award and the Project Challenge Award at the FLL
  Central Qualifier and competed at the Central Texas Regional
  Championship; the Wolfbots then advanced to the state championship,
  where they faced off against top robotics squads from across the
  Lone Star State; turning in an impressive performance, the San
  Antonio students finished 5th in points and 7th overall; with their
  fine showing at the state contest, they were invited to compete
  against teams from around the country at the FLL Challenge in May at
  Liberty Science Center in New Jersey; and
         WHEREAS, Ably guided by coaches Eddie and Tammy Saucedo, the
  Wolfbots team has received valuable contributions from each of its
  members: Eduardo Saucedo, Alejandro Saucedo, Micah Linville, and
  Andrew Moza of Great Hearts Monte Vista North Academy, Solomon
  Sosse of Hobby Middle School, Isabella Aragon of Resnik Middle
  School, and homeschooled students Penny Bell and Jack Bell; over
  the years, these exceptional young Texans have helped to promote
  STEM in their community, and they have served as mentors to other
  robotics teams; and
         WHEREAS, The members of the Wolfbots robotics team have
  demonstrated tremendous skill, initiative, and dedication, and
  they may indeed take great pride in their outstanding
  accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Wolfbots robotics team from San
  Antonio on its success at the 2023 FIRST Lego League state
  championship and extend to all those associated with the team
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
