R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The passing of Erica Nicole Patterson Hicks on
  April 29, 2023, at the age of 42, has brought a profound loss to the
  family and many dear friends of this cherished woman; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Houston on July 24, 1980, the former Erica
  Nicole Patterson was the daughter of Bruce Hutchinson and Darilyn
  Michelle Patterson; she grew up with the companionship of four
  younger siblings, Jessica, Deborah, Michael, and Yalonda, and
  attended the High School for Law and Justice; she later earned
  bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Phoenix; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Hicks shared in the joy of raising two children,
  Kevin and LeChelle, with her first husband, Kevin Davis, and she was
  later joined in matrimony with Gary Hicks; the couple took great
  pride in the family they shared, which included their precious
  grandchildren, Kierstyn, Kevin, Kyler, and Leilani; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to her loved ones, Ms. Hicks enjoyed
  bringing people together through food, especially by cooking a huge
  pot of crawfish; some of her favorite activities included dancing,
  lounging by the pool, and watching crime shows to hone her detective
  skills; and
         WHEREAS, A caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend,
  Erica Hicks will be deeply missed, and those who held her dear will
  forever remember the love and happiness she brought into their
  lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Erica Nicole
  Patterson Hicks and extend heartfelt condolences to all who mourn
  her passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Erica
  Hicks.
