R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The staff and electrical utility line workers of |
|
Pedernales Electric Cooperative distinguished themselves through |
|
their heroic efforts during the winter storm in late January and |
|
early February 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, In the week of January 30, the storm struck Central |
|
Texas and caused severe damage, similar to that of a hurricane or |
|
tornado; heavy ice accumulated on power lines and poles and sheets |
|
of ice crashed onto electrical equipment, resulting in outages |
|
across PEC's 8,100 square-mile service territory; and |
|
WHEREAS, PEC responded to the crisis by working tirelessly |
|
around the clock in extremely adverse conditions to restore power |
|
to the Hill Country and Central Texas communities; and |
|
WHEREAS, Thanks to the courage, hard work, and resilience of |
|
PEC staff and line workers, lives were saved and facilities and |
|
homes were restored to order, and these dedicated men and women are |
|
indeed deserving of special recognition for the vital role they |
|
played in helping Central Texans to recover from this devastating |
|
event; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the staff and electrical utility line |
|
workers of Pedernales Electric Cooperative and extend to them |
|
sincere gratitude for their perseverance and success in restoring |
|
electrical power to the people of Central Texas; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Pedernales Electric Cooperative as an expression of |
|
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
