R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Stephanie Reyes became the first woman appointed |
|
city manager of the City of San Marcos on February 21, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, In February 2022, Ms. Reyes began serving as interim |
|
city manager, following the retirement of her predecessor; she has |
|
served the city with distinction in a number of capacities over the |
|
course of 22 years; named assistant city manager in 2019, she served |
|
prior to that as chief of staff, assistant director of human |
|
resources, and assistant to the city manager; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Reyes has worked extensively with local |
|
organizations over the course of her career; a Leadership San |
|
Marcos graduate, she has served on the board of the organization, as |
|
well as on the board of Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas; she |
|
was recognized for her two decades of distinguished service by the |
|
International City/County Management Association and the Texas |
|
City Management Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born and raised in San Marcos, Ms. Reyes attended |
|
San Marcos High School and went on to earn a master's degree in |
|
public administration from Texas State University; she also |
|
graduated from Leadership ICMA, an intensive two-year program in |
|
local government management; in all her endeavors, she enjoys the |
|
love and support of her husband, Andrew, and she is the proud mother |
|
of four children, DrewAnn, Anna, Andrés, and Gabriela; and |
|
WHEREAS, Stephanie Reyes has greatly benefited the residents |
|
of San Marcos through her skill, professionalism, and long-standing |
|
commitment to the community, and it is indeed a pleasure to |
|
recognize her contributions as she embarks on the next exciting |
|
chapter of her career in public service; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Stephanie Reyes on her appointment |
|
as city manager of the City of San Marcos and extend to her sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Reyes as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
