R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Destiny Montemayor has distinguished herself in her |
|
responsibilities as a legislative assistant in the office of State |
|
Representative Jarvis Johnson during the 88th Legislative Session; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Montemayor joined the staff as a participant in |
|
the Texas Legislative Internship Program; during her time at the |
|
State Capitol, she has provided vital assistance in handling a wide |
|
variety of challenging tasks, including helping with constituent |
|
relations, meeting with advocacy groups and stakeholders, |
|
analyzing bills, and drafting talking points; in addition to |
|
gaining valuable experience in the field of public service, she has |
|
learned more about the legislative process and the issues facing |
|
citizens of the Lone Star State; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Montemayor holds a bachelor's degree in |
|
broadcast journalism with a minor in Spanish as well as a master's |
|
degree in educational leadership and policy studies, and she is |
|
currently pursuing a juris doctor degree at the Southern University |
|
Law Center; while completing her studies, she has served as |
|
executive editor for the Journal of Race, Gender & Poverty, and she |
|
has been elected president of the university's Latino Law Student |
|
Association; she is also a member of the Student Bar Association |
|
board; and |
|
WHEREAS, During her eight-year career as an educator, |
|
Ms. Montemayor taught at middle schools in the |
|
Grapevine-Colleyville, Keller, and Birdville Independent School |
|
Districts; a former Division I track and field athlete, she later |
|
served as a coach for a wide variety of sports, and she is active in |
|
her church and community; during her leisure hours, she likes to |
|
dance, exercise, write, and spend time outdoors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Destiny Montemayor has performed her duties as a |
|
legislative assistant with skill and dedication, and she is indeed |
|
deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Destiny Montemayor for her service as a |
|
legislative assistant in the office of State Representative Jarvis |
|
Johnson and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
|
in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Montemayor as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
