R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Destiny Montemayor has distinguished herself in her
  responsibilities as a legislative assistant in the office of State
  Representative Jarvis Johnson during the 88th Legislative Session;
  and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Montemayor joined the staff as a participant in
  the Texas Legislative Internship Program; during her time at the
  State Capitol, she has provided vital assistance in handling a wide
  variety of challenging tasks, including helping with constituent
  relations, meeting with advocacy groups and stakeholders,
  analyzing bills, and drafting talking points; in addition to
  gaining valuable experience in the field of public service, she has
  learned more about the legislative process and the issues facing
  citizens of the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Montemayor holds a bachelor's degree in
  broadcast journalism with a minor in Spanish as well as a master's
  degree in educational leadership and policy studies, and she is
  currently pursuing a juris doctor degree at the Southern University
  Law Center; while completing her studies, she has served as
  executive editor for the Journal of Race, Gender & Poverty, and she
  has been elected president of the university's Latino Law Student
  Association; she is also a member of the Student Bar Association
  board; and
         WHEREAS, During her eight-year career as an educator,
  Ms. Montemayor taught at middle schools in the
  Grapevine-Colleyville, Keller, and Birdville Independent School
  Districts; a former Division I track and field athlete, she later
  served as a coach for a wide variety of sports, and she is active in
  her church and community; during her leisure hours, she likes to
  dance, exercise, write, and spend time outdoors; and
         WHEREAS, Destiny Montemayor has performed her duties as a
  legislative assistant with skill and dedication, and she is indeed
  deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Destiny Montemayor for her service as a
  legislative assistant in the office of State Representative Jarvis
  Johnson and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success
  in all her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Montemayor as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
