R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Karen Lermon of White Deer High School has been
  named the 2023 High School Advisor of the Year by District 1 of the
  Texas Association of Student Councils; and
         WHEREAS, TASC is the largest student council organization in
  the state, with more than 1,300 member schools and advisors; each
  year, every district in the association presents the Advisor of the
  Year Award to honor outstanding middle school and high school
  advisors for their dedicated service in behalf of their students;
  district honorees are eligible for the Eddie G. Bull TASC State
  Advisor of the Year Award; and
         WHEREAS, Karen Lermon has served as student council advisor
  at White Deer High School for five years, during which time she has
  guided members of the council to numerous leadership conferences,
  fundraiser events, and community service projects; this year, the
  student council has held a blood drive, gathered donations for the
  Ronald McDonald House, conducted a food drive, and participated in
  other charitable events, such as Socktober and the Salvation Army
  Angel Tree program; and
         WHEREAS, Now in her 19th year at White Deer High School,
  Ms. Lermon teaches business and technology and speech and careers
  classes, and she serves as yearbook sponsor and freshman class
  sponsor; she holds a bachelor's degree from DeVry University and a
  master's of education degree in instructional design and technology
  from West Texas A&M University; and
         WHEREAS, Karen Lermon exemplifies the passion,
  determination, and innovative sprit that are the hallmarks of our
  best educators, and she may indeed take great pride in her
  accomplishments as she accepts this notable accolade; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Karen Lermon on being named the
  High School Advisor of the Year by District 1 of the Texas
  Association of Student Councils and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Lermon as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
