R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, LifeLine Shelter for Families, a charity that |
|
provides assistance to families with children attending schools in |
|
the Grand Prairie Independent School District, is holding its 20th |
|
annual Freedom Luncheon on June 8, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, The nonprofit organization was established in 2003 |
|
by Angela Giessner, who sought to address homelessness among |
|
schoolchildren in Grand Prairie; her organization began partnering |
|
with Grand Prairie ISD to help families pay their rent, utilities, |
|
and other expenses, and to date, it has made a difference in the |
|
lives of thousands of local children; its annual Freedom Luncheon |
|
is only one of the organization's initiatives designed to raise |
|
money for families experiencing homelessness, and today it serves |
|
approximately 150 families, including some 400 children, in the |
|
area each year; and |
|
WHEREAS, For two decades, LifeLine Shelter has been extending |
|
a helping hand to Grand Prairie residents in need, and its Freedom |
|
Luncheon plays a significant role in enabling the organization to |
|
pursue its important mission; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor LifeLine Shelter for Families on the |
|
occasion of its 20th annual Freedom Luncheon and extend to all those |
|
associated with the organization sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for LifeLine Shelter for Families as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
