R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Xavier Herrera was reelected to the Stafford City
  Council on May 6, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, First elected in 2021, Mr. Herrera serves in council
  position no. 5, and he was recently named mayor pro tem; and
         WHEREAS, In fulfilling the duties of his office, Mr. Herrera
  draws on a wealth of valuable experience; he is an alumnus of the
  University of Houston, where he studied political science, and he
  has held several positions with the City of Houston and Harris
  County; moreover, he has served as communications director for the
  Fort Bend County Judge's Office and is a former trustee of the
  Stafford Municipal School District, which he helped lead as vice
  president and board secretary; he has also chaired the Stafford
  Planning and Zoning Commission and been involved with a number of
  local educational boards and development councils; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Herrera is a member of numerous civic
  organizations, including the National Association of Latino
  Elected and Appointed Officials, the Playworks Texas board of
  directors, and the Texas Association of School Boards, which has
  designated him as a master trustee; in addition, he gives
  generously of his time and expertise to such charitable groups as
  the Gulfton Area Student Mentoring Program, Special Olympics Texas,
  and Rebuilding Together Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of
  life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the
  continuing efforts of Xavier Herrera will help to make Stafford an
  even better place in which to live and work; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Xavier Herrera on his reelection to
  the Stafford City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  a successful tenure; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Herrera as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
