R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Gary R. Pedigo of Denison is retiring as chair of the
  Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen's Texas State
  Legislative Board on May 31, 2023, following a noteworthy
  eight-year tenure in office and a railroad career spanning more
  than four decades; and
         WHEREAS, A Sherman native, Mr. Pedigo graduated from Denison
  High School; he was hired in 1977 as a brakeman by the
  Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, often called the Katy Railroad; on
  the first day of 1979, he joined BLET Division 177 in Denison, and
  that same year he was promoted to engineer; he was employed as a
  locomotive engineer by Union Pacific Railroad from 1989 until 2023;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Pedigo has served Division 177 as local chair
  and legislative representative throughout his career, and in 2011
  he became second vice chair of the BLET Texas State Legislative
  Board; he was elected chair by acclamation in 2015, and he easily
  won a second term four years later; at the Fifth National Convention
  in October 2022, he served as National Division chaplain; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Pedigo is supported by the
  love and encouragement of his wife, Brenda, and their two children,
  Whitney and Trey; retirement will allow him to be a "full-time
  Poppa" to his three grandchildren, and he is also looking forward to
  working on his farm and playing golf; and
         WHEREAS, Gary Pedigo has distinguished himself through his
  outstanding tenure as chair of the BLET Texas State Legislative
  Board and through his decades of service to Division 177, and he may
  indeed reflect with pride on his contributions as he embarks on the
  next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Gary R. Pedigo on his retirement as
  chair of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen's
  Texas State Legislative Board and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Pedigo as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
