R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The boys' 1,600-meter relay team from Follett High |
|
School achieved great distinction by winning the 1A gold medal at |
|
the 2023 University Interscholastic League Track & Field State |
|
Meet; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors in |
|
Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 13, the quartet of |
|
Jayden Watson, Julian Barton, Eugenio Chavez, and Shayne Franks |
|
turned in an exceptional performance, claiming the state title with |
|
a time of 3 minutes, 29.36 seconds; and |
|
WHEREAS, The victory was all the more special because the |
|
Panther runners were the first relay team from Follett High School |
|
to ever compete at the state meet; and |
|
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for |
|
high school track and field athletes, these talented runners have |
|
ably represented their school and community, and they will cherish |
|
their memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to |
|
come; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Follett High School boys' |
|
1,600-meter relay team on winning the gold medal in the 1A event at |
|
the 2023 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to the athletes |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
