R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Captain Gualberto Torres retired from the Harlingen
  Fire Department on May 19, 2023, drawing to a close a remarkable
  career with the city that spanned nearly half a century; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure, Captain Torres has
  served the citizens of Harlingen with unwavering dedication and
  selflessness and a deep commitment to public safety; he has
  demonstrated exceptional bravery and professionalism while
  responding to countless emergencies and working tirelessly to
  protect and save lives, and in so doing, he has set an inspiring
  example of public service for his colleagues; and
         WHEREAS, Captain Torres has been instrumental in shaping the
  Harlingen Fire Department into a highly respected and efficient
  emergency response organization; in addition, his focus on training
  and mentoring young recruits has helped the department continuously
  maintain high standards of excellence; and
         WHEREAS, Beyond his achievements as a fire service
  professional, Captain Torres has been an active and engaged member
  of the community; his compassion and commitment to service have
  extended far beyond the call of duty, and he has been a role model, a
  trusted resource, and a source of support for innumerable
  individuals in times of crisis; and
         WHEREAS, Although his retirement marks the end of an era for
  the Harlingen Fire Department, Captain Gualberto Torres has made an
  indelible impact on the community and on the firefighters who will
  continue to carry on the department's mission, and his
  contributions will be remembered and admired for many years to
  come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Gualberto Torres on his
  retirement from the Harlingen Fire Department and extend to him
  profound gratitude for his unfaltering commitment to protecting the
  lives and property of the people of Harlingen; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Captain Torres as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
