R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The JROTC drill team from Harlingen High School
  proved itself one of the finest in the country with its
  title-winning performance at the 2023 National High School Drill
  Team Championship, held in Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 6 and 7;
  and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1982, the National High School Drill
  Team Championship enables JROTC cadets from throughout the United
  States to demonstrate their skills in regulation, exhibition, color
  guard, and inspection disciplines in both armed and unarmed
  divisions; and
         WHEREAS, Competing under the name Silver Guard, the Harlingen
  High School drill team compiled a total of 4,379 points to earn top
  honors in the Division 3 Unarmed Overall category; and
         WHEREAS, In claiming the title, the Harlingen team received
  valuable contributions from each member of the roster: Jacqueline
  Acosta, Kaylie Dewitt, Mia Acosta, Sherlyn Aguilar, Naydeline Puga,
  Devannay Tellez, Kayli Barbosa, Cheyanne Deadman, Marie Garza,
  Alexa Serna, Grace Aguilar, Izaiah Rodriguez, Hayley Ruiz, Antonio
  Aguilar, and Giselle Garcia; these determined cadets benefited from
  the able guidance of instructors Master Sergeant (Ret.) Tony
  Gonzales and First Sergeant (Ret.) Leonard Robinson; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a drill team national championship is a
  remarkable achievement that results from exceptional discipline,
  outstanding precision, and an unwavering commitment to excellence,
  and the talented young men and women in the Harlingen High School
  JROTC program are a source of great pride for their school and
  community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Harlingen High School JROTC
  drill team on winning the Division 3 Unarmed Overall title at the
  2023 National High School Drill Team Championship and extend to the
  cadets and instructors sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
