R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer Paul Boon is retiring from the Flower Mound |
|
Police Department on June 9, 2023, drawing to a close more than two |
|
decades of dedicated service to the community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Boon began his career in law enforcement as |
|
a jailer for the Dallas County Sheriff's Office in 1984; he went on |
|
to work for the Dalworthington Gardens Police Department in 1998, |
|
and after three years on the force there, he joined the Flower Mound |
|
Police Department on January 3, 2001; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, Officer Boon has served the agency |
|
in a variety of capacities; he is the current range master and |
|
training coordinator for the department and is tasked with managing |
|
training events in the areas of firearms, defensive tactics, and |
|
other crimefighting skills; he also oversees the police training |
|
program and mini-academy, chairs the training advisory board, and |
|
serves as the training liaison for other agencies; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Boon has been responsible for ensuring the |
|
department's compliance with state regulatory requirements, and he |
|
has continuously kept abreast of tactics, equipment, industry |
|
standards, and laws as they pertain to law enforcement training; he |
|
holds certifications as an advanced and master peace officer, as an |
|
instructor, and as a rifle, pistol, and shotgun armorer; he was |
|
selected as the department's Officer of the Year in 2011; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his professionalism and dedication to duty, |
|
Paul Boon has contributed immeasurably to the safety and well-being |
|
of the citizens of Flower Mound, and he may indeed reflect with |
|
pride on a career well spent; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Officer Paul Boon on his retirement |
|
from the Flower Mound Police Department and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Officer Boon as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
