R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For nearly 30 years, Laura G. Tamez of San Antonio
  has fiercely advocated to preserve for her clients the rights
  guaranteed in the 1876 Texas Constitution; and
         WHEREAS, A partner-shareholder in the Herrera Law Firm,
  Ms. Tamez serves as the 2023 president of the Texas Trial Lawyers
  Association; she was previously president of the San Antonio Trial
  Lawyers Association, and she has held a number of high offices in
  the TTLA, SATLA, the American Association for Justice, and other
  professional organizations; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Tamez has testified on many occasions in the
  Texas Legislature, including in the House Committees on Judiciary
  and Civil Jurisprudence, Business and Industry, and Insurance and
  in the Senate Committees on State Affairs and Jurisprudence; and
         WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous honors, Ms. Tamez has
  received the TTLA's Don Bowen Distinguished Service Award and
  Michael Gallagher Legislative Advocacy Award, the San Antonio Bar
  Association's Legal Award for advocacy for injured migrants, and
  the SATLA Pat Maloney Sr. Courage Award; moreover, she has been
  recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer and featured in Scene in S.A.'s
  Inaugural List of San Antonio's Outstanding Women in the Law; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Tamez has authored professional articles and
  presented at legal seminars around the nation, often focusing on
  construction/oil and gas accident litigation and on traumatic brain
  injury; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Ms. Tamez has served in
  numerous volunteer capacities, including as co-chair of both the
  San Antonio Area Foundation's Women and Girls Development Fund and
  the National Association of Women Judges Conference held in
  San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Tamez is a graduate of Texas A&M University and
  St. Mary's University School of Law, where she was honored with the
  Hispanic Law Alumni Association Henry B. Gonzalez Achievement Award
  for her work representing injured workers; in all her endeavors,
  she enjoys the love and support of her husband, George, and their
  children, Elena and Carlos; and
         WHEREAS, Laura Tamez has distinguished herself through her
  wide-ranging accomplishments, and her dedication to her clients and
  steadfast commitment to the Bill of Rights of the Texas
  Constitution are a source of inspiration to all; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Laura G. Tamez for her contributions to
  the legal profession and to public policy and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Tamez as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
