H.R. No. 2406
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Jaime L. Capelo Sr. of
  Corpus Christi were deeply saddened by his passing on April 21,
  2023, at the age of 87; and
         WHEREAS, Jaime Capelo Sr. was born in Lockhart on August 29,
  1935, to Pedro and Aurora Capelo, and he grew up with the
  companionship of seven siblings, Minerva, Viola, Abelardo V.,
  Pedro, Irma, Robert, and Abelardo G.; he dropped out of school in
  the sixth grade to work in the cotton fields in order to help
  support his family; and
         WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Capelo
  served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War; he
  obtained his GED while in the military, and following his return to
  civilian life, he moved to Corpus Christi; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Capelo and his wife, Geri, enjoyed a rewarding
  marriage that spanned more than five decades before her passing in
  2016; they were the devoted parents of two sons, Jaime and Glen, and
  their family eventually grew to include eight grandchildren,
  Berkeley, Audrey, Sam, Steven, Alex, Ben, Lily, and Elyse;
  Mr. Capelo taught his sons the importance of education, family, and
  hard work, and he looked on with pride as they both graduated from
  Yale University; in his leisure time, he enjoyed cheering on the
  Texas Longhorns; and
         WHEREAS, Although Jaime Capelo Sr. is greatly missed, he has
  left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will
  forever cherish; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jaime L. Capelo Sr.
  and extend sincere condolences to all those who mourn his passing;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jaime
  Capelo Sr.
