R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, May 29, 2023, marks the 30th wedding anniversary of |
|
the Honorable Dennise Garcia and the Reverend Eric Folkerth, and |
|
this joyous event provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on |
|
their rewarding journey together as husband and wife; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lifelong Texans, Justice Garcia and Pastor Folkerth |
|
first met at Southern Methodist University, where their friendship |
|
grew into love; the couple were joined in matrimony at Highland Park |
|
United Methodist Church in Dallas in 1993, and they have been |
|
blessed with a daughter, Maria; and |
|
WHEREAS, Justice Garcia has enjoyed an exemplary judicial |
|
career that has spanned more than 16 years, and since 2020, she has |
|
served on the 5th District Court of Appeals; she has also been |
|
involved in numerous professional organizations, including the |
|
Supreme Court of Texas family law advisory group for pandemic |
|
issues and two State Bar of Texas committees; a longtime member of |
|
the clergy, Pastor Folkerth currently serves as senior pastor of |
|
Kessler Park United Methodist Church in Dallas; he has further |
|
distinguished himself as an author, blogger, and musician; and |
|
WHEREAS, The three decades of marriage that Dennise Garcia |
|
and Eric Folkerth have shared is eloquent affirmation of the |
|
meaning of love and commitment, and their enduring union is an |
|
inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Justice Dennise Garcia and Pastor |
|
Eric Folkerth on their 30th wedding anniversary and extend to them |
|
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Justice Garcia and Pastor Folkerth as an expression of |
|
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
