R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of
  Benita T. Martinez of San Diego, Texas, who passed away on
  March 12, 2022, at the age of 90; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Francisco Trigo Sr. and Gettudes
  Valerio Trigo, the former Benita Trigo was born on April 3, 1931;
  she married Alejandro L. "Cano" Martinez, and they were blessed
  with 14 children, Jose "Chemita," Alejandro, Francisco, Albert,
  Humberto, Roberto, Gilberto, Bertha, Sylvia, Dora, Dalia, Sandra,
  Donna, and Diana; through the years, Mrs. Martinez experienced the
  joy of welcoming numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren
  into her treasured family; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Martinez were employed as migrant
  workers in the late 1960s, and she lovingly guided her sons and
  daughters as they traveled to fields in northern states; determined
  to further her education, she eventually returned to school to earn
  her GED and associate degree; she served as a teacher's aide in the
  San Diego Independent School District before going on to work for
  the Duval County 229th District Court Juvenile Department for more
  than two decades; dedicated to her community, she volunteered at
  the senior civic center; she enjoyed playing and singing as a member
  of the Guadalupana Mariachi and the St. Francis de Paula Catholic
  Church Choir; and
         WHEREAS, Benita Martinez lived a full and generous life
  surrounded by those she loved, and they will forever carry her close
  in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Benita T. Martinez
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  children, Alejandro Martinez Jr. and his wife, Sylvia, Francisco
  Martinez and his wife, Catherine, Albert T. Martinez, Humberto
  Martinez and his wife, Patricia, Roberto Martinez and his wife,
  Rachel, Gilberto Martinez, Bertha C. Young and her husband, Mike,
  Sylvia Martinez and her husband, Carlos, Dora L. Casas, Dalia
  Miller and her husband, Paul, Sandra Cano and her husband, Pino,
  Donna Martinez, and Diana Martinez Palacios; to her sisters,
  Juanita Saenz, Maricella Montemayor, and Amalia Trejo; and to her
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Benita
  Martinez.
