R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at |
|
the loss of Travis Garcia of Pleasanton, a gifted young athlete |
|
whose life was tragically cut short on March 15, 2022, at the age of |
|
19; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Eric Garcia and Abby Rains, Travis Garcia |
|
was a superb golfer with a promising future ahead of him; he was a |
|
graduate of Pleasanton High School, where he helped the Eagle golf |
|
team advance to state in 2021, and he was twice named PHS Most |
|
Valuable Player; at the time of his death, he was continuing to |
|
compete in the sport while working toward a criminal justice degree |
|
at the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico; and |
|
WHEREAS, As he pursued his dream of becoming a professional |
|
golfer, Mr. Garcia impressed others with his strong work ethic and |
|
his determination to succeed; he was well-liked and widely admired |
|
in his close-knit community, where his untimely passing inspired a |
|
tremendous outpouring of prayers and sympathy; and |
|
WHEREAS, Possessed of a warm smile, a caring and generous |
|
nature, and an unfailingly positive attitude, Travis Garcia |
|
brightened the world for those who were fortunate enough to know |
|
him, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Travis Garcia and |
|
extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Travis |
|
Garcia. |
