A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to recording the status of certain home studies performed |
|
by the Department of Family and Protective Services. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 262.114, Family Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (a-3) to read as follows: |
|
(a-3) The department shall maintain an electronic record of |
|
the status of a home study required under Subsection (a) of a |
|
potential relative or designated caregiver. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 262.114(a-3), Family Code, as added by |
|
this Act, applies only to a home study performed on or after the |
|
effective date of this Act. A home study performed before the |
|
effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the |
|
date the home study was performed, and the former law is continued |
|
in effect for that purpose. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
