A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the recipients of opioid antagonists under the opioid
  antagonist program.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 461A.059(c), Health and Safety Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
         (c)  The executive commissioner may provide opioid
  antagonists under the program to emergency medical services
  personnel, first responders, public schools, institutions of
  higher education as defined by Section 481.134, community centers,
  and other persons likely to be in a position to respond to an opioid
  overdose.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
