A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a poll watcher presenting proof of identification at |
|
|
the polling place. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 33.051(a), Election Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(a) A watcher appointed to serve at a precinct polling |
|
|
place, a meeting place for an early voting ballot board, or a |
|
|
central counting station must deliver the following materials to |
|
|
the presiding judge at the time the watcher reports for service: |
|
|
(1) a form of legal identification under Section |
|
|
63.0101 that discloses the full name and address of the watcher; |
|
|
(2) a certificate of appointment; and |
|
|
(3) [(2)] a certificate of completion from training |
|
|
completed by the watcher under Section 33.008. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
