A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the establishment of a grant program for local mental |
|
|
health authorities building new mental health facilities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 533, Health and Safety |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 533.03522 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 533.03522. LOCAL AUTHORITY GRANT PROGRAM. (a) The |
|
|
commission shall establish a program through which the commission, |
|
|
using money appropriated or otherwise available for that purpose, |
|
|
may award a grant to a local mental health authority to assist the |
|
|
authority in building a mental health facility in a county served by |
|
|
the local authority. |
|
|
(b) The executive commissioner shall adopt rules necessary |
|
|
to establish and administer the grant program under this section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
|
|
of this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human |
|
|
Services Commission shall adopt rules necessary to implement the |
|
|
changes in law made by this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
