A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the publication of a report providing an overview of |
|
|
public education in Texas. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 7, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 7.0081 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 7.0081. PUBLIC ACCESS TO SNAPSHOT DATA. (a) In this |
|
|
section, "Snapshot: School District Profiles" means the annual |
|
|
report published by the agency that provides the public with an |
|
|
overview of public education in Texas, at both the state and local |
|
|
levels, and that includes multiple data elements, summary tables, |
|
|
and a peer search function. |
|
|
(b) The agency annually shall prepare and publish on its |
|
|
Internet website Snapshot: School District Profiles, using the |
|
|
same data elements and the same "summary tables," "district detail |
|
|
search," "item definitions," "download statistics," and "peer |
|
|
search" used in Snapshot 2020. |
|
|
(c) The agency shall prepare and publish Snapshot: School |
|
|
District Profiles, using the information described in Subsection |
|
|
(b), for school years 2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023 not later |
|
|
than December 31, 2023. |
|
|
(d) This subsection and Subsection (c) expire December 1, |
|
|
2024. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
