A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a restriction on an employment contract entered into by |
|
|
the governing board of a junior college district. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 130, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 130.0091 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 130.0091. RESTRICTION ON EMPLOYMENT CONTRACTS. |
|
|
Notwithstanding any other law, the governing board of a junior |
|
|
college district may not enter into an employment contract for a |
|
|
term longer than one year. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to an employment contract entered into on or after the effective |
|
|
date of this Act. An employment contract entered into before the |
|
|
effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the |
|
|
date the agreement was entered into, and the former law is continued |
|
|
in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
