A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the manufacture of voting machines by certain foreign |
|
|
persons. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 122.0331, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) A manufacturer of voting systems used in an election may |
|
|
not enter into a contract, or extend or renew a contract, for |
|
|
software development services with: |
|
|
(1) a company or other entity headquartered in China, |
|
|
Cuba, Iran, North Korea, or Russia; or |
|
|
(2) an individual who is based in China, Cuba, Iran, |
|
|
North Korea, or Russia. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to an election ordered on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
