A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to medical examinations required for admission to a mental |
|
|
health facility. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 575, Health and Safety |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 575.004 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 575.004. MEDICAL EXAMINATION BEFORE ADMISSION. Any |
|
|
medical examination or assessment required to be conducted within |
|
|
24 hours of a person being admitted to a mental health facility |
|
|
under this subtitle must be conducted in person. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
