SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Bazan family in honor of the 50th anniversary of their
  family-owned restaurant, Taco Olé; and
         WHEREAS, Taco Olé was established in 1973 by the late Elias
  Bazan Jr. and his wife, the late Delia Bazan; the couple opened
  their first restaurant, Okie Frijole, in 1970 in McAllen shortly
  after they were married and offered all-you-can-eat meals for one
  dollar; and
         WHEREAS, With the goal of creating an authentic Mexican
  dining experience in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, the Bazans moved
  back to their hometown of Mission in 1973 and opened the first Taco
  Olé restaurant; through their determination, talent, and faith,
  Elias and Delia found lasting success in their family business, and
  the restaurant now operates two additional locations in Edinburg
  and Sharyland; and
         WHEREAS, Taco Olé restaurants are famous for their excellent
  Tex-Mex dishes, and especially for their family-sized botanas that
  feature grilled beef, chicken, and shrimp as well as their fresh
  tortillas and delicious enchiladas; Taco Olé has received accolades
  that include being featured in Texas Monthly as one of the "Best
  Mexican Restaurants in Texas," and the restaurant has been a
  popular culinary destination in the Lower Rio Grande Valley for
  half a century; and
         WHEREAS, This beloved business and its owners and staff are
  indeed deserving of special recognition for catering to the hearts
  and palates of Texans throughout the years and for continuing the
  family's proud tradition of providing exceptional service and
  cuisine to their customers; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, hereby commend the Bazan family on their contributions
  to the Rio Grande Valley and extend to them and to the restaurant's
  staff congratulations on the 50th anniversary of Taco Olé and best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
  business as an expression of esteem from the Texas Legislature.
