R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
  passing of Sid Stafford of Hallsville on November 2, 2022, at the
  age of 103; and
         WHEREAS, Sid Stafford was born to Mae Marie and William
  Robert Stafford on July 30, 1919, in Madill, Oklahoma, and grew up
  with two siblings, Ruby and Junior; coming of age during World War
  II, this courageous American joined the U.S. Army in 1941 and served
  in North Africa and Italy as a mechanic with the 755th Tank
  Battalion; and
         WHEREAS, On June 4, 1951, Mr. Stafford married the love of
  his life, the former Nita Waldron; the couple made their home in
  Raymondville, Texas, where Mr. Stafford raised a variety of crops,
  including cotton and grain, before they settled in Hallsville in
  1964; Mr. Stafford went on to enjoy a career with the Jordan
  Employment Service in Longview until his retirement at age 62; in
  his leisure hours, he continued his horticultural pursuits,
  maintaining an expansive garden; a man of faith, he was an active
  congregant of First Baptist Church of Hallsville, where he served
  as a deacon and as Sunday school superintendent; and
         WHEREAS, Valuing his family above all else, Mr. Stafford and
  his wife shared a rewarding marriage that spanned nearly seven
  decades before her passing; he took great pride in their three
  daughters, Beverly, Brenda, and Beth, and with the passing years,
  he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include eight
  grandchildren, Ashley, Jennifer, Miranda, Thomas, Charity, Rachel,
  Caleb, and Chad, and numerous great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for his unfailing optimism, warm and
  generous nature, and keen sense of humor, Sid Stafford touched
  countless lives during his journey on this earth, and he will
  forever be a source of inspiration to those he leaves behind; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of Sid Stafford and that sincere
  condolences be extended to his loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Sid Stafford.
