R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Holliday High School girls' cross country team |
|
proved itself the finest 3A squad in Texas by winning the 2021 |
|
University Interscholastic League state championship; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Lady Eagles matched up against the top high |
|
school competitors in Texas at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on |
|
November 5, 2021; under the guidance of head coach Glenn Griffin, |
|
the Holliday runners dominated the field in the 3A competition, |
|
finishing with 39 points to capture the fourth title in school |
|
history; and |
|
WHEREAS, Holliday was paced by Hannah Spears, who claimed the |
|
individual championship with a time of 11 minutes, 34.9 seconds; |
|
she was followed by Jaycee Lyons in 9th place at 12:05.30 and by |
|
Simone Mouras in 11th place at 12:09.30; also contributing to the |
|
team's exceptional showing were Kyla Coheley, who clocked in at |
|
12:23.00, Jaci Shepherd, who finished in 12:40.10, Breagan Blowers, |
|
who completed the course in 12:47.10, and Briar Griffin, who posted |
|
a time of 13:09.60; and |
|
WHEREAS, The talented student-athletes of the Lady Eagle |
|
cross country team have distinguished themselves through their |
|
skill, hard work, and enduring commitment to excellence, and they |
|
will cherish their memories of their state title triumph for the |
|
rest of their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby congratulate the Holliday High School girls' cross country |
|
team on winning the 2021 UIL 3A state championship and extend to the |
|
team's runners, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the Lady Eagles as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas Senate. |
